Damon Kinsella organises a special 'funeral' for his wife Maxine Minniver in order to celebrate her life. However things take a terrible turn
Thinking that his new wife Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) doesn’t have long left to live, Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts) has been busy organizing a special ‘living funeral’ for her.
The carefully planned event in Hollyoaks will see Maxine’s nearest and dearest celebrate her life and read specially prepared eulogies to show her how much she means to them.
However as Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) knows, far from being at death’s door, the ‘brain tumour’ that Maxine has now convinced everyone has got much bigger, is a big, fat, lie.
Sienna has pleaded with her friend to come clean and has even suggested that Max use the funeral with everyone gathered together, as the ideal opportunity to reveal her whopping deception.
However, Maxine is having none of it. As her own funeral gets underway, she is delighted to be centre-stage once again and is lapping up the attention, despite sitting just a few feet away from her own coffin!
Sitting on a specially made throne, Maxine can hardly stop smiling as Liberty Savage (Abi Phillips) performs a special song for her. Meanwhile her close friends, Grace Black (Tamara Wall), Nancy (Jessica Fox) and Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) give heart-felt speeches.
When it gets to Maxine’s turn to talk, and with Sienna’s angry glares directed straight at her, it momentarily looks as if she might be about to confess all. However a SHOCK development suddenly takes place that changes everything!
Elsewhere Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) admits to Courtney Campbell (Amy Conachan) that he’s in fallen in love with someone. Courtney, who has no idea that it’s Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) who Liam is talking about, tells him he should show this mystery girl just how much he wants her.
Spurred into action by Courtney’s words, Liam invites Mercedes over to The Loft which he has filled with racks of new clothes. He tells Mercedes to pick whatever she likes! Will Mercedes’ eyes light up with his generous gesture?
Meanwhile Mercedes’ long-suffering husband Sylver (David Tag) who has recently been left doing the bulk of the childcare, is worried about Bobby, Mercedes’ son, when he discovers he’s wet the bed.
Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) overhears Sylver talking about the incident and offers to talk to little Bobby. Will Bobby tell the doctor what’s been troubling him?
