Jodie Whittaker joins Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty in their cafe on Southend Pier, helping prepare roast pork with a double helping of crispy crackling
Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty start the new series with the brilliant new Time Lord, Jodie Whittaker, helping them out in the café.
The Doctor Who star begins by helping the pair rustle up a feast of roast pork with oodles of crispy crackling.
They also take her on a trip down memory lane, but rather than Jodie’s more usual time-travelling machine, they use the power of a Thai beef massaman curry, which she’s been dreaming about since she was 18 years old.
Jamie and Jimmy are also campaigning to keep sustainable British brown crab on the menu, and they demonstrate how to convert an oil drum into a BBQ to cook up a feast for the Harlequins ladies rugby team.

As TV Times Highlights Editor I get to hear about all the latest TV shows coming soon. Here at TVT HQ we are in the privileged position of selecting the best programmes from across all the channels and streaming platforms. Our mission is to make it easier for our readers to decide what to watch - and give them lots of choice of genres - all the latest shows, plus some nostalgic choices we call hidden gems, too. My career began with a postgraduate degree in periodical journalism (ahem, yes old school!) in 1991 and I’ve worked in TV media since 2000.
