The Illuminated River project is on a mission to deck out 15 of London’s iconic bridges with lights, over 100,000 of them, transforming a five-mile stretch of the river Thames into a fantastical nightly light show.
The first part opens this Summer, with work not scheduled to be completed until 2022.
Charlie drops in to see how work is going on what has been called the largest public art work ever conceived, and one that is designed to lift onlookers’ spirits (and for free) whether they’re weary Londoners commuting home, visiting tourists or viewers catching Big Ben’s bongs as TV rings in the New Year.
