If you thought the Republic of Gilead was unbearably grim, wait until this episode takes you into the horrendously dark world of the ‘colonies’ – a contaminated, radioactive area of the North American wilderness where criminals are sent to suffer.

We rejoin Emily (Alexis Bledel) , June’s ally, a member of the resistance whose acts of rebellion saw her sentenced to hard labour.

But no amount of torture can squash her spirit… Meanwhile, it’s a tense time for June (Eilsabeth Moss), apparently free but still trapped.

Alone in the former Boston Globe offices, she has no choice but to wait for someone to come.

Will they rescue her or return her to a living nightmare?
