As the series draws to a close in a feature-length episode, wedding bells are chiming for Rose and her lovely fiancé Atticus but, as the household decamps to London for the celebrations, there’s trouble on the horizon, mainly in the form of Atticus’s disapproving father Lord Sinderby and Rose’s brusque mum Susan. Something funny in the London air affects the staff, too, as Denker starts to show her true colours, while Daisy reaches a decision about her future.
Fortunately for Edith, her arrangement with Marigold is happily working out, but how long can she and Cora conceal the truth from Robert? Meanwhile, Branson has come to a heart-wrenching decision and just when we hoped that the relentless story of Green’s death was finally over, there’s a shock in store for Anna and Bates. They wind up behind bars! Viewers will have to wait until Christmas to find out what happens to them...

Patrick McLennan is a London-based journalist and documentary maker who has worked as a writer, sub-editor, digital editor and TV producer in the UK and New Zealand. His CV includes spells as a news producer at the BBC and TVNZ, as well as web editor for Time Inc UK. He has produced TV news and entertainment features on personalities as diverse as Nick Cave, Tom Hardy, Clive James, Jodie Marsh and Kevin Bacon and he co-produced and directed The Ponds, which has screened in UK cinemas, BBC Four and is currently available on Netflix.
An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
