Jude Law may look like the most unlikely head  of the Catholic Church, but that’s all part of the fun of this glossy but quirky saga about chain-smoking, Cherry Coke-loving Lenny Belardo, who rocks the Vatican when he becomes Pope Pius XIII.

The drama, beginning with a feature-length episode, sees Lenny taking up his new job as the youngest-ever pontiff and proving he’s not a pushover.

Look out for Diane Keaton as the nun who raised Lenny and is now his right-hand woman, and James Cromwell as Cardinal Michael Spencer, Lenny’s former mentor who hoped for the top job himself.
