We see Zara five years earlier when she was called Alex. She is about to start her new job at the hospital and has gone to see her dad, Jed, at his factory. Her dad is working hard and his partner, Ian, is a bit leery towards her. Ian makes a decision to go ahead with a faulty prototype made at the factory and an employee is caught in it. The employee is taken to Accident and Emergency where Alex (Zara) recognises him, he later dies. Jed is charged with manslaughter over the employee's death, and Alex (Zara) realises that it was all Ian's fault. She offers to do anything for him to tell the truth, and so sleeps with him. We then see a year later, with Alex (Zara) and her father in court, with Ian giving evidence against him. Jed is found guilty and sentenced for 10 years and Alex (Zara) promises to exact her revenge.
