Bake Off has dominated TV in 2016, taking nine of the top 10 spots in most viewed programmes. But will it be the same when it moves to Channel 4 in 2017?
BBC1, and The Great British Bake Off in particular, has dominated TV ratings in 2016, according to TV research company BARB.
Latest figures show that Bake Off had 10 of the top 11 programmes by number of consolidated viewers (including catch-up figures). The final of Bake Off was watched by almost 16 million people.
The Mountains episode of Planet Earth II supplied the other episode in the 2016 top 10.
ITV's I'm a Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent featured in 12th and 13th places, with episodes drawing audiences of 12.66 million and 12.46 million respectively.
Of course, the figures don't take into account the Doctor Who and Call the Midwife Christmas specials this weekend, while the final viewing figures for Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing final are yet to be confirmed.
The BBC’s director of content, Charlotte Moore, said: “BBC One has dominated viewing in 2016 with outstanding programmes in every genre demonstrating the strength of the channel across the whole year.”
The question for 2017 is: can Bake Off maintain this dominance when it moves to Channel 4?
