Blu-ray review | Forever Marilyn

With the 50th anniversary of the death of Marilyn Monroe coming on 5th August, 20th Century Fox has released four of the Hollywood icon’s best-loved films in a new Blu-ray collection, Forever Marilyn. In Billy Wilder’s classic comedy Some Like It Hot, 1920s musicians Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon go on the run from gangsters and find work disguised as women in an all-girl jazz band whose kooky singer, Sugar Kane, is unforgettably played by Monroe. How to Marry A Millionaire finds Monroe alongside Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable as three gold-digging models who rent a luxurious New York apartment as a trap to catch wealthy husbands. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes also sees her hunting for a rich catch as diamond-loving blonde Lorelei, sailing to France on board a luxury liner with fellow good-time girl Jane Russell. And in The Seven Year Itch she’s the voluptuous blonde upstairs who captivates middle-aged New Yorker Tom Ewell while his wife and son are away.

Forever Marilyn, a new Blu-ray box set from 20th Century Fox released to commemorate the 50th annniversy of Monroe's death, contains Some Like It Hot, How to Marry a Millionaire, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Seven Year Itch.
