Celebrity Big Brother will have a fresh twist when it returns in January

Celebrity Big Brother will celebrate 100 years since women won the vote with an all female cast of housemates, the show has announced.

The new series will feature female stars “in a salute to a centenary of women’s suffrage”, said the C5 show.

It added that the show will explore how the women interact “from politicians to performing artists” before the male contestants enter the house.

Over the course of the series the housemates will take part in a series of tasks designed to “challenge gender stereotypes”.

The show will initially only include female contestants (C5)

In the early 1900s women in the suffrage movement fought for the right to vote, including Emily Wilding Davison, famous for throwing herself under the King’s horse at the 1913 Derby.

The Suffragettes petitioned, protested, were arrested and went on hunger strike in their fight for equality.

Set to air in January 2018, Celebrity Big Brother will be presented by Emma Willis.

Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side will return with Rylan Clark-Neal.
