Coronation Street stars have spilled the beans on the soap’s Christmas events.

Christmas is always a dramatic time for the soaps, and this year is set to be no different.

Coronation Street stars have revealed that the cobbles could be in for an extremely turbulent festive season this year, with fans convinced that a major character could see their demise.

Jennie McAlpine, who has played Fiz Brown in the ITV soap since 2001, let slip that there could be some major shocks in store this Christmas.

"I've read the script for Christmas Eve,’ Jennie said to The Daily Star.

"It's quite dramatic. I'm not sure if Ill be getting any turkey this year. Fiz is going to be quite busy!

"I can't say if anyone dies. If I told someone that, I'd have to kill them!"

And one of the other characters opened up about the December plotlines too.

Sally Ann Matthews, who has played Jenny Bradley in the soap for 33 years, since 1986, said that viewers are in for a dramatic time.

"I've just received scripts for Christmas,” she said.

"What I can say is it's beyond dramatic.

"It's big and edge-of-your-seat stuff,” she added. “It's not just one story either. There are several big stories happening."

"We usually have feelgood Christmas episodes,” she went on. “And this year it certainly starts off that way.

"People will want to tune in for it on Christmas Day. My advice is not to have too much turkey and eggnog so you'll still be awake enough to watch it!"

A controversial wedding is also set to take place, with Michelle Connor, who is played by Kym Marsh, tying the knot with Tristan Gemmill’s character Robert Preston, who is already engaged to Vicky Jefferies, the woman who is pregnant with his child.

Kym has confirmed her exit from the soap, so we can’t wait to see what happens to Michelle!
