Viewers have known the truth about Ross’ acid attack for some time…
Emmerdale viewers were left heartbroken for poor Ross Barton after he finally learned that Debbie Dingle was responsible for his acid attack.
In Friday night’s episode, Debbie made the emotional confession to Ross from her hospital bed after he accidentally shot her during his fight with Joe Tate, who he believed was behind the attack.
‘You need to know,’ she told Ross. ‘It wasn't Joe. It was me. I'm sorry Ross. Please, I need to explain what happened.
‘Please Ross don't go, I need to explain this – please, no.’
After running out of the hospital looking utterly distraught over what he had just heard, Ross is still unaware that the acid attack was a case of mistaken identity that he was caught up in, and also that Debbie never asked for acid to be used in the first place.
Viewers were utterly heartbroken for Ross and flocked to social media to share their sadness.

Another added: ‘Maybe this confession will make Ross realise once and for all and Debbie no longer loves him and never will again!’
A third said: ‘I feel for ross and for debbie she by no means ment the accid attack to happen . Hope ross listens to what really happened’.
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
