End of an era in tonight’s Emmerdale when The Woolpack is SHUT DOWN - but why?

Emmerdale

The legendary Woolpack pub in Emmerdale is under threat tonight... but will it shut for good?

There is trouble heading for Emmerdale tonight when The Woolpack pub is closed thanks to a severe case of dry rot.

But it's not just the locals who will have to find somewhere else to gossip over a pint, Chas Dingle, Paddy Kirk and Bear Wolf also find their worlds turned upside down when Charity Dingle tells them they will have to move out.

Emmerdale fans will know that pregnant Chas is expecting to welcome her child into the world in the not too distant future, and so moving house is far from ideal for her and Paddy.

Just when the pair are meant to be putting the finishing touches to the nursery for their new arrival, they're told that they will have to vacate the pub living space while workmen attend to the dry rot dilemma.

But while Chas and Paddy aren't happy about having to move out, this is nothing in comparison with the heartache the pair have faced over recent times.

Emmerdale fans will know that last year they faced the toughest time of their lives when their daughter, Grace, sadly died shortly after being born thanks to a condition called bi-lateral renal agenesis.

But while the parents-to-be start to look for somewhere else to live, Charity is also left with a drama on her hands with her livelihood under threat if the pub has to close.

Charity becomes determined not to let the pub close for good, knowing that it isn't good for business, and decides to come up with a new way of making money while the restoration work is underway.

But how will everyone cope with her new al-fresco arrangements? And will it be enough to keep the thirsty locals happy?

And what about the future of the pub? With The Woolpack being at the centre of much of Emmerdale's drama over the years, let's hope this closure is a temporary one.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
