'Fiz doesn't stand a chance!' against Evelyn, reveals Coronation Street's Maureen Lipman

Fiz in Coronation Street

Evelyn reckons Fiz is boring, says Maureen Lipman

Tyrone Dobbs may be thrilled to have found his biological nana Evelyn Plummer, but he’s about the only person on the cobbles who’s glad to have her around.

And, as we head further into Autumn, no one’s pulling their hair out more over Evelyn’s bad behaviour than Ty’s other half Fiz Brown, who’s been forced to put up the pensioner and her dog Cerberus at No.9.

"Fiz doesn’t stand a chance!" says Maureen Lipman, who plays the nana in question.

"Evelyn has a grudging liking for Tyrone, and she thinks Fiz is boring. She sets out to drive her away by being critical  and ungracious, and generally driving a wedge between them."

Fiz starts to reach the end of her tether when she discovers that Evelyn has stolen some of her and Ty’s belongings.

We know Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz, is taking a temporary break from the soap to welcome her second child. Will her alter ego decide enough’s enough and walk out on Ty and his acid-tongued gran?

This isn’t the only big autumn story coming up in Coronation Street. Jane Danson has teased that Leanne and Nick could be about to reunite.

But actor Ben Price, who plays Nick, suggests his character is hiding a big secret.

“Nick has another life. You’ll find that all is not quite as it seems…”

Coronation Street continues with Sinead and Daniel getting married in the ITV soap tonight. But will she confide in Daniel about her health?

First episode is at 7.30 with the second on at 8.30pm.
