Henry Newton won't be in Weatherfield for very long it seems...

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has wished Henry Newton actor George Banks all the best for the future, revealing that George is leaving the ITV soap.

Jane, who plays Leanne Battersby, posted a message on Twitter saying: “Wishing one of the loveliest actors I know George Banks lots of love and luck for the future, a true gent and a fab actor. Hope you come back to the cobbles soon.”

Georgia Taylor, who plays Leanne’s sister Toyah, also shared a warm Tweet, saying: “Two people  I’d ALWAYS want on my team. Love ya Jane Danson and our gorgeous George Banks.”

Previously Gemma Winter was devastated when she discovered that brewery heir Henry was only dating her for bet. She wasn’t interested when he said he’d actually developed true feelings for her.

Henry, though, is now heading back into Gemma’s life and he offers to buy her the Rovers! However, judging by the fact actor George is leaving the show again, we suspect that things don’t work out between Gemma and Henry.

Dolly Rose-Campbell, who plays Gemma, spoke to us about the storyline, saying: "Henry tells her his parents forced him to get engaged and he’s not happy because he’s still in love with Gemma.”

Coronation Street continues on ITV.
