Kingsland Road eliminated from X Factor

Boy band Kingsland Road have become the latest casualties of The X Factor 2013 after finding themselves in the bottom two for the second time.

The quintet - who survived a previous sing-off at the expense of Shelley Smith - weren't quite so lucky this time around as they came face to face with series favourite Tamera Foster in the fight to stay in the show.

And while mentor Gary Barlow naturally voted to keep them in, the other judges opted to save Tamera, once both acts had performed again.

"Both acts were incredible in the sing-off," Louis Walsh said, "but the act I have to send home is Kingsland Road."

Gary, meanwhile, admitted: "This is a shocker two weeks running...the public have got this wrong this week."

The lads appeared overcome with emotion afterwards, although band member Jay admitted the highlight had been 'seeing Little Mix perform tonight.'

In turn Gary sung their praises, saying: "These guys were together for two years before they joined us.

"They know what they're doing, they are a hit band and they need to keep doing what they're doing."

He also took a swipe at the public's decision, saying: "I want to remind everyone out there that this is a singing competition."

Seven other acts made it straight through to next weekend's show on the strength of the public vote - with Abi Alton, Nicholas MacDonald, Sam Bailey and Luke Friend among those who were voted through.

Sam Callahan also made it to next week in spite of attracting criticism on Saturday night for his performance of Relight My Fire.

Kingsland Road's departure leaves Gary with just one remaining group, Rough Copy, following the exit of Miss Dynamix last Sunday.

Sharon Osbourne is also down to one act, singer Sam Bailey, while girls' mentor Nicole Scherzinger and boys' mentor Louis Walsh have yet to lose an act.

Next Saturday's X Factor sees the return of the ever-popular big band night, with an orchestra accompanying the eight remaining performers.
