Comedy actress Rebecca Front has cast doubts over the possibility of The Thick Of It returning - saying that the show would not go ahead without Armando Iannucci on board.
Rebecca, who is currently appearing in Jo Brand's Great Wall Of Comedy on Gold, said that Armando - who also created the US presidential satire Veep - was the driving force behind the show, and that another series would not be possible without him.
"He has said, I think, that he doesn't want to do another series, but he hasn't categorically ruled out the odd one here and there," she admitted.
The long gap before the last series was partly because he wanted to wait until the political landscape had settled and because he was busy doing Veep.
She added: "If something suddenly sparked his imagination it might happen, but we certainly can't do it and wouldn't do it without Armando. It's his project and it's all down to his decision."
The Thick Of It, which satirises the inner workings of the government, was first screened in 2005.
The most recent series - which focused on the rise to power of a coalition party - aired last autumn.
