Gemma Atkinson tells What's On TV why Casualty's Tamsin is finally ready to tell Jeff she loves him...

Viewers have known for ages that Tamsin loves Jeff - what's taken her so long to realise?

"She's been using her relationship with her fiance Dave as a distraction. She doesn't want to admit to herself that she's marrying the wrong man. She's good friends with Jeff, but she hasn't been able to admit that her feelings run deeper than that."

When does that change?

"After the stabbing incident - she thought Jeff had been stabbed, but it wasn't him. For that short time she thought she was going to lose him for good. That really changed everything. She knows she can't marry Dave, so she breaks up with him."

What happens when she tells Jeff she wants to be with him?

"It doesn't go how she would hope. She's quite hurt by his reaction. But later in the episode Jeff finds her and apologises and explains he was just taken aback. Then he kisses her!"

Fans will be happy!

"Yes, I get a lot of tweets begging me to hurry up and tell Jeff I love him! I hope it's a satisfying moment for everyone watching."

Do you think they will make a good couple?

"Yes I think so. They are good friends, which is always a good start. They have the same sense of humour, they have fun. Dixie gives him her seal of approval so it's all a very happy situation. I think they could actually make it work."

Matt Bardock, who plays Jeff, is going soon.  Can you spill any secrets?

"Yes and I'm going too. It's a great exit for Matt, but I can't say what it is. Once you make characters happy together there always has to be a spanner in the works to shake it all up. The viewers will be laughing one minute and crying the next."

Casualty screens on BBC1 on Saturday evenings

Nicholas Cannon
TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
