Coronation Street shock departure: Tony’s leaving…because of Liz, or because of Callum?

Tony Stewart has desperately been trying to convince Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) to give him another chance after his heartbreaking, humiliating betrayal.

But with reports that Terence Maynard has quit his role as Tony, and already filmed his final scenes and had his leaving party, it sounds like Tony fails to win Liz over.

Hardly surprising… Tony cheated on her with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and conspired to take over the Rovers behind Liz’s back.

Is that why Tony’s going, though?

Or does Liz somehow take her revenge in a way that makes it impossible for Tony to stay in Weatherfield any longer?

Maybe the reason he goes is nothing at all to do with Liz…

The police might come looking for Tony in relation to Callum Logan’s sudden disappearance.

Tony beat Callum up in retaliation for Callum nearly killing his son, Jason (Ryan Thomas - who’s also leaving Corrie, but not until next year).

And then Tony and Todd (Bruno Langley) stole Callum's motor and torched it (just before David and Kylie were going to dump Callum's body in the car).

Will the police think Tony’s made Callum disappear?

We don’t have to wait long to find out…

Coronation Street continues on ITV, Monday, October 18, 7.30pm.
