Former Coronation Street and Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain has signed up to star in a short film – and you could win a part as an extra in it.

Chris will play the role of Tom in the 'heartrending love story' Late being produced by Hollyoaks producer Emily Gascoyne. Late is being funded by a Kickstarter campaign and donors can enjoy rewards ranging from a ticket to the launch, a part as an extra and even an executive producer credit on the film.

Late has a funding target of £3000 and is currently just over the £1000 mark.

Emily's sister Charlotte is co-producing Late and will co-star alongside Chris, who said: "I first met Emily on the set of Bob and Rose in 2001 when we were just starting out on our TV careers. I am delighted to be working with her again on Late. It is a project I really believe in and want to bring to an audience. I'm looking forward to filming.”

It will mark Chris's first film or TV role since he was sacked by Coronation Street in August 2013 following the revelation he was a rapper who performed misogynistic lyrics in a mask on a YouTube video.
