Will Ferrell and Jon Heder are a hoot as rival ice-skaters who team up as a pair
Will Ferrell and Jon Heder are a hoot as rival ice-skaters who team up as a pair.
They have been banned from the sport for life after a bout of fisticuffs but, exploiting a loophole in the rules, return as the world's first same-sex ice-skating duo.
The entire movie is just an excuse to get them to dress up in silly outfits and crash and crunch into each other on the ice, but it's none the worse for that.
Heder and Ferrell generate bright comedy sparks with a lot of backstage sniping and super tricksy blade work on the rink. Big laughs also come courtesy of Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, as a creepy brother-and-sister team who are scarily obsessed with medals and each other.
This film starts at 12.10am on BBC1 Northern Ireland and at 12.40am on BBC1 Scotland.
