New midwife Lucille shows her resolve in the face of adversity

New midwife Lucille shows her resolve in the face of adversity.

As new arrival Lucille (Leonie Elliott) takes centre stage, she faces a tough ordeal when she helps pregnant hairdresser Marjory (former Hollyoaks’ Sophie Austin).

The birth goes smoothly, but some horrifying post-natal complications open Lucille up to bigoted comments from Marjory’s mum Mae (Maggie O’Neill).

However, the plucky new midwife shows she’s made of surprisingly tough stuff.

Meanwhile, in between running parenting classes, complete with knitted ‘bosoms’ (hilarious!), Sister Winifred supports a young woman who wants her husband at the birth.

Elsewhere, Shelagh worries for her menfolk when the Hungarian au pair she’s hired is way more glam than her photo suggested!
