In the concluding part of a special crossover storyline to mark Holby's 20th anniversary, the lives of two Casualty/Holby favourites hang in the balance...

Holby City celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and the long-running medical drama is bringing out the big guns to mark the occasion with a special crossover storyline, which starts in Saturday’s Casualty and concludes in this week’s Holby.

With the hospital still in the grip of a cyber attack, plunged into darkness and with medical equipment malfunctioning everywhere, a Casualty favourite and Holby veteran are in real jeopardy.

It’s all hands on deck as the ED’s Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) is desperately still trying to save paramedic Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson), following his attempted suicide. But it soon transpires that consultant Sacha Levy (Bob Barrett) has taken a turn for the worse following his recent car accident (as featured in Saturday’s Casualty).

Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel) will stop at nothing to save her friend Sacha – but there’s only one theatre available and time is fast running out! What unfolds is a real clash of the titans as Connie battles to save Iain, and Jac fights to save Sacha. Is there any way in this world that these two powerhouse surgeons can work together to save both Iain and Sacha?

A gripping crossover with a fitting ending, as it highlights what can be achieved when people work together… in more ways than one.

Holby City continues on Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC1.
