Cassie reveals she's moving back to Summer Bay, but hasn't told Macca. Sally's uncertain when Cassie explains they can make their relationship work with Macca still in the city. Later, Cassie tells Macca she wants to return to the Bay permanently but still continue their relationship. But shattered Macca takes it personally and, after Cassie leaves, Macca drives after her to try and convince her to come back to the city. But when he realises he can't change her mind, he gets annoyed and grabs her before hitting her across the face. He leaves, stunned. Later, as Cassie packs the rest of the things, she finds a letter from Macca telling her she can do better than him and they're over. Elsewhere, Sally, Brad, Alf and Cassie discuss how they're certain Johnny was the one who planted the drugs in Ric's cell. That night Alf gets a call from the prison – something terrible has happened to Ric. Rachel is getting to know a new intern, James, when he bumps into Kit, his ex-girlfriend, and he's shocked to see she's pregnant! Kit assures him the baby isn't his and apologises for breaking up with him suddenly.
