Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs – ITV
This week in For the Love of Dogs, Paul O'Grady spots a potential canine celebrity in the making...
There’s always one dog in each episode of Paul O'Grady's: For the Love of Dogs that tugs at your heartstrings. In this week's second episode, (Wednesday, 8pm, ITV, see our TV Guide for full details) it’s anxious 12-year-old pointer cross Lady, who’s obviously had a hard life.
She was a stray in Cyprus and was brought to the UK by a British soldier, but he’s no longer able to look after her.
Can Paul find a way to help her settle?
Elsewhere, lively young lurcher Marti has a habit of jumping up if he’s not kept stimulated and Paul wonders if a working home could be the answer.
Paul thinks Marti could be an actor, so it’s off to Elstree, where Holby City needs a dog in one scene…
TV Times caught up with Paul ahead of the new series of For the Love of Dogs.
We asked him what advice would he give to anyone thinking of adopting a dog?
'Never get a dog at Christmas. That’s a huge mistake because you’re bringing a dog into a home that’s full of strangers, kids, food and chocolates, so there’s lots of temptation.
'Never ever buy a dog off the internet, and always clean up after your dog when you’re out.
At the National Television Awards one year, I was up on stage collecting an award, put my hand in my pocket and there was a dog-poo bag and a load of biscuits!'
TV Times rating: ****
