BBC1's new three-part documentary series Sacred Wonders takes a look at some of the most impressive religious landmarks in the world
BBC1's beautifully shot new series Sacred Wonders looks at some of the world’s famous landmarks that have been built in the name of religion.
At Angkor Wat, Cambodia, dedicated Buddhist gardeners regularly climb to the top of the 65m towers barefoot.
They do this to remove saplings that threaten the ancient structure -and with no safety equipment.
Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, thousands of worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque mark the end of Ramadan.
It sees them risk collapse through hunger or dehydration along the way.
