There's love and tragedy in equal measure at Chester Zoo this week

Things are looking up for rhino Kifaru and widowed porcupine Roxy, who both get new mates, but Kifaru struggles to get to grips with his taller, heavier partner.

One of the longest relationships at the zoo is that between lowland tapirs Jenny and Cuzco, but Jenny has developed a worrying cough, and the vets have a difficult decision to make.

Meanwhile, breeding season is going well on Flamingo Island, until a chick goes missing…
