The popular consultant returns - but for how long is she staying?

Following recent traumatic events, Holby CEO Henrik Hanssen needs some time away from the hospital to get his head together. But he’s leaving it in very capable hands as he’s called on former consultant Serena Campbell to step in as acting CEO while he’s away.

Serena believes the move is only temporary – she’d much rather be helping lover Bernie Wolfe set up a trauma unit in Nairobi – but she’s happy to hold the fort for now.

Serena’s left stunned though when none other than her old friend and colleague Ric Griffin is brought onto AAU after being stabbed with a screwdriver in prison. Ric's on remand awaiting trial for medical manslaughter, following the death of patient Elaine Warren, and it's obvious to Serena that he's taking some serious stick inside.

With nurse Donna's help, Serena turns detective, as she tries to establish why Ric left Elaine unattended on that fateful day. Will he tell her the truth? And will Serena decide to stay at Holby longer than planned?

Meanwhile, Oliver's physiotherapy is cut short when his therapist collapses. The incident immediately triggers his surgical instincts, though, but as he attempts to diagnose her and other patients, Dom, Lofty and Roxanna try to manage his expectations. Can Oliver still be a doctor?

Also, Jac must locate the rare vinyl she took from Raf’s collection before Fletch purchases a replacement. Frieda soon cottons on to why Jac may be so keen to help Fletch – and it seems Jac’s daughter Emma is aware too. Does Jac have feelings for him?
