It’s Bread Week in The Great British Bake Off on C4, so what surprise ingredients will be lurking under the gingham tablecloth?

‘Bread is like a religion to Paul, so no pressure,’ warns host Sandi Toksvig, introducing the episode of this series of C4’s The Great British Bake Off least likely to elicit a Hollywood handshake.

The bakers kick off with what sounds like a straightforward signature challenge: a filled tear-and-share loaf, followed by a rather unusual technical that raises eyebrows.

It’s tonight’s showstopper that really takes our breath away, though, as Paul and Prue Leith (pictured above with Noel Fielding and Sandi) give the bakers five hours to create a stunning themed display of scored loaves, beyond anything we could have imagined.

Even Paul admits that this is a tough challenge!

So who will be going home?

Bread-related puns aplenty are guaranteed from Sandi and fellow host Noel Fielding, as the bakers go all out to ‘prove’ themselves and ‘rise’ to the occasion (apologies).
