Will the cream rise to the top and who will be sent on their whey as it’s time for dairy week in C4’s The Great British Bake Off
Vegans, look away now, as it's dairy week in C4’s The Great British Bake Off.
You might be forgiven for thinking that every week is dairy week in the tent, but tonight, in a Great British Bake Off first, the show is celebrating ‘cultured dairy’ (that’s yogurt and buttermilk to the likes of us).
Paul and Prue (pictured above) explain that using these ingredients makes for lighter, moist cakes, but the bakers don’t look too convinced as they start battling with curds and milk sweets.
It’s been a very down-to-earth series so far, with lots of reassuringly relatable challenges, but we found ourselves in a permanent state of confusion during this episode, as the challenges are a decorative Signature that involves a tricky turn-out; a complex Technical that dates back to Henry VIII; and an intricate Showstopper usually found at the centre of Indian weddings and celebrations.
