Chef Tom Kerridge helps artisan foodies sell their creations in a new competition - Top of the shop.

Michelin-starred TV chef Tom Kerridge is a champion of the country’s food entrepreneurs – and what better way to encourage them than to host a 12-week competition to find the nation’s ‘best up-and-coming artisan’, with 28 contestants who make everything from pâté to chocolates.

There will be seven categories, kicking off with preserves, pickles and spreads, with four producers selling their wares for two days in Tom’s shop in Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales.

As well as winning over the locals, they must impress judges Nisha Katona and Alison Swan Parente in order to get a place in the final. Continues tomorrow.
