Hollyoaks actor Keith Rice has the 'right support' in rape storyline

Hollyoaks actor Keith Rice has said he feels comfortable with his new male rape storyline because he's been given the right support.

His character, Finn O'Connor, sexually assaults his teacher John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) in the soap.

The attack takes place next week off-screen in the Channel 4 drama.

Asked about taking on such a serious storyline, Keith told Digital Spy: "With everyone at work and at home, I've got the right people around to support me, so I feel comfortable enough to do the role.

"As long as everything is done right and we all come together, I believe we can make really good drama - and I think that's what we've done so far."

Keith said he had 'worries and concerns' about the plot, but was reassured after doing his research.

"Finn's actions are much more to do with power, status and making a grown man feel so powerless and worthless," he said.

"You see a complete change in Finn," he added.
