SHOCK EXIT on the cards for TWO main characters in next week's Coronation Street

Next week's Coronation Street sees Daniel Osbourne flee Weatherfield, taking his baby son Bertie with him...

There is yet more heartbreak heading for Coronation Street next week when Daniel Osbourne leaves the cobbles with baby Bertie shortly after his wife's death.

Coronation Street fans are set to be left in tears tonight as Sinead Tinker loses her brave battle with cancer (7.30pm, see our TV guide for full listings) in an hour-long special of the soap.

But while her death has been on the cards for a while, Daniel understandably still struggles to face life without her.

Next week will see the bereft husband finding it hard to focus on the funeral plans for his late wife and, as everyone gets involved, he ends up asking them all to leave as it becomes too much.

However the real drama comes when he hears Evelyn Plummer in the corner shop bad mouthing Bethany Platt after their forbidden kiss.

Daniel defends Bethany, leaving everyone stunned, but Beth isn't happy when she finds out.

She goes to find Daniel at Victoria Garden, but once she tracks him down she's shocked to see he is with Bethany again, and she accuses the pair of having an affair before Sinead is even cold.

Beth's outburst is too much for Daniel and he makes the decision that he needs space away from Weatherfield.

He arrives at number 1 and tells everyone that he is taking Bertie away to Scotland for a holiday, just the two of them.

While Daniel protests it will do everyone some good if he wasn't around for a while, Adam and Peter are concerned about his state of mind.

But Daniel is determined and, with his mind made up, he wastes no time in getting his things together and heading off to Scotland with Bertie in tow.

However, as he departs, Beth sees him and is totally heartbroken by the fact he's taking Sinead's son away. As she watches them leave Beth can't help wondering if she will ever see her godson again.
