Get ready for a four-night cute-fest as newborn lambs, calves, goat kids and rabbits make their debut in the world on live TV! It airs Monday to Thursday, with cameras capturing the birthing action at Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire. Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson don their best midwife hats to help farmers Rob and Dave Nicholson deliver new life… If it’s anything like previous years, expect some tense battles for survival! Meanwhile, Adam Henson completes a springtime MOT on his farm in the Cotswolds, checking his rare breeds and preparing for another busy farming year ahead.

Yorkshire Midwives on Call, 8pm, BBC Two
Meet the busy midwives delivering babies into Yorkshire’s homes in an emotional new series, which follows midwives from Bradford’s homebirth midwifery unit. There are plenty of highs and lows tonight, as they deal with a super-quick labour, as well as a new mum who needs to be blue-lighted to hospital after suffering blood loss. But what’s most striking is just how much care the midwives provide for each family, even going as far as to tidy up their kitchens and make the older kids tea! Continues tomorrow.

Mary Berry's Fantastic Feasts, 8pm, BBC One (Wales, BBC Two)
Mary has her work cut out helping a trio of cautious cooks throw a surprise 30th birthday party for Mark, a hard-working teacher. His wife Rima, mum Diane and friend Noreen are complete beginners, but with a little Mary magic, they hope to make bite-sized blinis, salmon en croûte and a decadent chocolate cake. Helping Mary are TV presenters Scarlett Moffatt and Janette Manrara – they’re in charge of the cheese course, but seem more focused on trying to get Mary to join their girl band and go out dancing! An emotional end to a feel-good series.

The Split, season 3, 9pm, BBC One
Hannah is understandably fuming when she has to go out for the evening so that her husband and his pregnant (and frankly very annoying) girlfriend can come over to ‘nest’ and cook dinner for the children. But then she discovers that old flame Christie is in town… Meanwhile, Ruth isn’t the only one who seems to have noticed something between her daughter Nina (Annabel Scholey) and Zander’s husband Tyler (Damien Molony). It’s a particularly potent storyline, expertly woven in among the other threads by master storyteller Abi Morgan, with only three episodes remaining in this final series after tonight.

In this first of a four-part series, Ross joins a dive at the Royal Navy base at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands to look at World War Two wrecks. He is keen to find treasure that may be linked to some relatives who died at sea in the war.

Travel Man: 48 Hours in Cyprus, 8.30pm, C4
Joe Lycett and comedian Mo Gilligan are in Cyprus to explore the island’s lesser-known tourist attractions. After checking in to their unique and colourful hotel (‘If Skittles made bedrooms…’ says Mo), the pair head to Paphos to make a wish on a magical tree and milk a goat to create their own halloumi cheese. They also visit Aphrodite’s Rock, appreciate some al fresco art in Limassol and celebrate condiments in the curious Salt & Pepper Museum in Larnaca.

Best box set to watch on TV tonight
Anatomy of a Scandal, season 1, Netflix
Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley swaps the sunshine of California for the shadowy corners of Westminster in this captivating new six-part thriller adapted from Sarah Vaughan’s bestselling novel. The drama is seen through the eyes of Sophie Whitehouse (Sienna Miller) whose perfect world is turned upside down when her politician husband (Rupert Friend) is accused of sexual assault, in a tale examining power, privilege and consent. It’s a captivating story with plenty of twists — some more believable than others — which sees Downton Abbey: A New Era star Michelle Dockery on fine form as prosecution barrister Kate Woodcroft.
Best film to watch on TV today
The Great Escape, 3.35pm, Film4
The set carpenters were just putting the finishing touches to the very realistic mock-up of Stalag Luft III at this point 60 years ago when the one of the greatest escape movies ever made was going into production. It’s as four-square and solid as the great cast assembled to tell a true-adventure story so full of daring and audacity that it threatens to outshine Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough et al.
