Best TV shows on TV tonight

Strap in for two outings to Holby City Hospital tonight! In the first episode, Iain embarks on a daring but dangerous mission to rescue a truckload of terrified trafficking victims. In the second episode, Ethan (George Rainsford) goes on his first date since fiancée Fenisha’s untimely death. After sparring over a patient in the ED, romantic sparks fly with police officer Amy (Catrin Stewart) when they go for dinner. He’s a bag of nerves (yet as charming as ever), but is it too soon? It gets emotional when Fenisha (Olivia D’Lima) makes a special return in a moving flashback story…

Celebrity Mastermind, 7.20pm, BBC One

The most daunting chair on TV awaits a new gaggle of celebrities brave enough to face Clive Myrie and his many tough questions. Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, writer and actor Charlie Higson, comedian Ed Gamble and This Country actor Paul Cooper are all up for the challenge with the stars of the solar system, classic Westerns, the American sitcom 30 Rock and the 1966 World Cup being their chosen specialist subjects.

Britain's Got Talent, season 15, 8pm, ITV

Britain's Got Talent judges 2022

Another busy night of talent spotting for David, Alesha, Amanda and Simon.  (Image credit: ITV)

There's been a strong start to this year's auditions with some fantastic acts taking to the stage and impressing the audience and judges. Some of our favourites so far have been the acts that have given a modern spin to more traditional variety acts, like brother and sister duo Matricks Illusion with their jaw-dropping quick change show and 13-year-old Jamie and his brilliant ventriloquist turn. The auditions continue tonight from the London Palladium Theatre with more hopefuls hoping to make it through to the live semi-finals.

Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, 10pm, (times vary) BBC Two

This 2019 feature-length documentary  takes us through Miles Davis’ life and career, tracing not just his progress as one of the most influential musicians of the last century but also – using archive footage – the changing decades. Contributors include Quincy Jones, with Miles’ own words, read by actor Carl Lumbly, acting as the narration.

Laura Linney and Jason Bateman return for the final instalment of the acclaimed drama about Chicago couple, Wendy and Marty Byrde, who were forced to flee to the rural Ozarks with their two children to launder money for a Mexican cartel. The action picks up after the shocking death of fan-favourite Wyatt and his heroin-dealing bride Darlene, who were gunned down by Javi, the volatile nephew of crime boss Omar Navarro. With Wyatt's cousin Ruth (Julia Garner) vowing revenge, who will survive? And will Marty and Wendy ever be able to return to a normal life?

Best film to watch on TV today

Captain America: Civil War, 9.20pm, C4

TV tonight You can never never have too many superheroes.

You can never never have too many superheroes. (Image credit: C4)

Arguably Marvel’s most grounded movie to date, this is an Avengers film in all but name, as Captain America (Chris Evans) defies Tony Stark/Iron Man, who wants all superheroes to sign a treaty to be accountable to government. New characters Black Panther and Spider-Man are introduced with panache, while familiar faces, such as Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), plus many others, join the warring factions. It should be a crowded mess, but this is an exhilarating, surprisingly smart adventure.

Live Sport

  • Snooker: The World Championship, from 10am, BBC One & BBC Two
  • Premier League, Newcastle United vs Liverpool, 11.30am (k-o 12.30pm), BT Sport 1
  • Women's Six Nations, France vs England, 2pm (k-o 2.15pm), BBC Two
