Best TV shows on TV tonight
The Great Home Transformation, 8pm, C4
Turns out that popular presenters Emma Willis and Nick Grimshaw share a mutual love of home-makeover shows, so seem chuffed to bits to help Eastbourne couple Sam and Becca declutter their bursting-at-the-seams semi as this six-part series kicks off. Using hi-tech cameras and heat mapping to see where the house is used – and underused – the duo and a design team create a stylish new family home inside a giant truck and ask for Sam and Becca’s approval. Can they make a cinema room, craft room and new bedroom out of their existing house in three days? You betcha!

Raised by Wolves, season 2, 9pm, Sky Atlantic/NOW
The cerebral Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi saga about human settlers on an alien planet after the destruction of Earth returns for a second season. Androids Mother and Father have sought solace in an atheist colony in Kepler-22b’s tropical zone with their six human children. Although the other colonists are wary of them, Mother and Father are relieved to have found a safe place to raise their family, but is their new home really as peaceful as it appears? Meanwhile, on the outside, Marcus (Travis Fimmel) is busy recruiting acolytes to join him in worshipping Sol…

Matt Baker: Travels with Mum & Dad, 9pm, More4
Matt, Janice and Mike take a trip back in time to Beamish open air museum, which celebrates life in the North East from days gone by, including two farms that replicate rural living in the 1940s and 50s. The cheery trio love their history and their animals, so are in heaven as they combine both, with all of them helping out with some pigs in a pickle. You can take the farmer out of the farm…

Best box set to watch on TV tonight
Hacks, season 1, Prime Video
If you like The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, you shouldn’t miss this new series starring Mare of Easttown’s Jean Smart as a Joan Rivers-style comedian, Deborah Vance. After the veteran stand-up finds her career on the slide when her Las Vegas residency comes under threat, her manager teams her with reluctant young comedy writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) who’s just been cancelled after a tasteless tweet went viral. Originally on HBO Max in the US it’s already been renewed for a second season and won three Emmys, including outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for Jean Smart.

Stan & Ollie, 9pm, BBC Two
This touching biopic of cinema’s most beloved comedy duo stars Steve Coogan and John C Reilly, who don Laurel and Hardy’s trademark bowler hats and do a spot-on job of mimicking their celebrated comic routines. The film has a bittersweet edge, though, as it focuses on the end of their careers when failing health and old grudges threaten to stymie their variety hall tour of 1953 Britain.
