Best TV shows on TV tonight
The Great British Sewing Bee, 9pm, BBC One
Sport and fashion don’t seem like natural bedfellows, but, tonight, the contestants are adding a zing of glamour to gym kits in a bid to impress judges Patrick and Esme. The first task has never been attempted on Sewing Bee before, and the sewers gasp as they’re asked to make a pair of trainers from scratch. It’s uncharted territory and the results are mixed… This week’s Transformation Challenge involves turning a netball kit into an outfit you’d wear on the town (no mean feat!), and the Made to Measure demands a perfectly constructed sports jacket inspired by sporting heroes, from Jessica Ennis-Hill to Serena Williams.

Grand Designs: The Streets, 9pm, C4
This episode focuses on the first self-build in Glasgow, part of a new street where six hopeful homebuilders are rolling up their sleeves, donning their hard hats and creating their own bespoke houses. Joanna and Ben have a tight budget of £170,000 to build an American ranch-style home, inspired by the Wild West and constructed from natural materials including a rustic tin roof. They’ve never built a house before and there are not many expert ranch builders in the Scottish city to help, but Ben is a carpenter, so that’s at least something, isn’t it?

Summertime, season 3, Netflix
The third and final series of this Italian coming-of-age drama from the producers
of Gomorrah lands today, and there is more romance and self-discovery to come before the story ends. It’s summer again, time for fun, hanging out with friends on the stunning Romagna Riviera and some personal reflection, too. Lead character Summer (Coco Rebecca Edogamhe) seems freer than ever, and is ready to take chances, while Sofia returns, but worries she may have grown apart from her mates.

Kicking Off: The Rise and Fall of the Super League, 9.30pm, BBC Two
In April 2021, it was announced that 12 of Europe’s biggest football clubs were planning to form a breakaway Super League. Six of those were Premier League clubs, causing anger among football fans and the media that an already money-driven sport would become even more elite. One year on, this documentary looks at what was really behind the proposed alliance.

Best box set to watch on TV tonight
Ozark, season 4 (part 2), Netflix
Laura Linney and Jason Bateman return for the final instalment of the acclaimed drama about Chicago couple, Wendy and Marty Byrde, who were forced to flee to the rural Ozarks with their two children to launder money for a Mexican cartel. The action picks up after the shocking death of fan-favourite Wyatt and his heroin-dealing bride Darlene, who were gunned down by Javi, the volatile nephew of crime boss Omar Navarro. With Wyatt's cousin Ruth (Julia Garner) vowing revenge, who will survive? And will Marty and Wendy ever be able to return to a normal life?
Best film to watch on TV today
Picnic at Hanging Rock, 12.50am, Film4
This eerie drama, released in 1975, deservedly put director Peter Weir on the map. In 1900, a group of Australian schoolgirls and teachers go for a picnic to the towering Hanging Rock – an excursion from which three of them are never to return. It takes a while for events to start happening, but then the film hits its stride, with Weir keeping an explanation of the horrors tantalisingly out of reach. One to record.
