The X Factor Live Shows

Judges chose the 12 X Factor acts to go through to the live shows and there was a big surprise omission

The X Factor judges have chosen their 12 acts for the live shows stage of the competition.

Three acts in each of the four categories – girls, boys, over-25s and the groups – were selected at the judges’ houses, and are now moving into the X Factor house.

Simon Cowell, who was helped by guest judges Mel B and Emma Bunton in Malibu, will be mentoring the girls.

He chose Emily Middlemas, Gifty Louise and Sam Lavery, surprising fans by cutting favourite Caitlyn Vanbeck.

The boys have Nicole Scherzinger as their mentor.

The former Pussycat Doll had a helping hand from Calvin Harris, who jetted out to Nice, France, to advise her on her contestants.

The three who made the cut are Matt Terry, Ryan Lawrie and Freddy Parker.

Sharon and Robbie will be hoping to repeat their previous X Factor success.

Pop heartthrob Robbie helped Mrs O select Sam Bailey back in 2013 – and she went on to win the show.

Louis Walsh took Alesha Dixon and Fleur East to Ibiza to help him whittle down his category.

They chose 5AM, Irish twins The Brooks and duo Bradley and Ottavio.
