There's an almighty showdown between ex-es Zara Carmichael and Daniel Granger on Doctors over his new girlfriend, Becky Clarke...

Things have been rather awkward between Zara Carmichael (played by Elisabeth Dermot Walsh) and Daniel Granger (Matthew Chambers) since their marriage break-up on Doctors.

While Zara has accepted that Daniel has moved on and started a new relationship with surgery practice manager Becky Clarke (Ali Bastian), she doesn't have to like it. In fact, Zara can't stand Becky!

So when Zara and Daniel find themselves attending a work-related event together, talk eventually turns to their break-up and the new lady in Daniel's life.

Zara admits she thinks it's all too much, too soon and is concerned what effect this is all having on their young son Joe, who until recently still had hopes his parents would get back together again.

However, when Daniel leaps to Becky's defence, Zara snaps and warns her ex that Becky has a sly side that he hasn't seen yet. And it's not long before the pair are arguing just like old times and get booted out of their work meeting. Whoops!

Meanwhile, Valerie Pitman (Sarah Moyle) feels like she hasn't got the closure she was expecting after the memorial service.

So the receptionist decides to book an appointment with colleague Dr Jimmy Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) for some counselling.

Valerie thought saying goodbye would lift the burden of grief. But now she just feels worse.

Can Jimmi help Valerie deal with her grief?

Elsewhere, midwife Ruhma Carter (Bharti Patel) meets expectant mum Gina Ashworth (Jill McAusland).

But when Gina suddenly goes into labour, things get complicated when Gina, who had originally agreed to a natural birth, changes her mind at the last minute and demands a caesarean.

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!"
