Hayley Slater is not impressed with Jean's big surprise, Kat gets a surprise of her own when a special guest arrives, and Whitney is friend to Ruby.

It’s Hayley’s birthday and Jean vows to make it a special day for her. Expectant, she gives Hayley a birthday card but is left deflated by Hayley’s less than enthusiastic reaction. Jean decides that she needs to go all out to cheer up Hayley and suggests to the Slaters that they throw Hayley a surprise party. Hayley is unimpressed when she walks into her surprise birthday party at the Slaters'!

When Hayley walks into her surprise party however, she is absolutely horrified! She turns on her heel and runs out, with Kat following after. Will Kat talk her round? Meanwhile, Jean realises that Kat is really missing her boys. Kat tries to brush off Jean’s concerns but they are all shocked when a surprise guest arrives at the front door – it’s Alfie!

Whitney offers Ruby some support and advice over her problems.

Ruby is in a state after the upset at the pub the previous night. She decides to put on a brave face and go out but she’s overwhelmed. Whitney realises Ruby is struggling and she offers some help. Whitney later checks up on Ruby to make sure she’s okay and they end up having a heart-to-heart.
