Kirsty Young presents this warm-hearted look at the relationship of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

With today, 20 November, marking their 70th wedding anniversary, Kirsty returns to the very place where they first met and, it is said, the young Princess Elizabeth fell head over heels for the dashing Lieutenant Mountbatten, as Philip was then known.

One of the nicest aspects of this film is the contribution from three other couples who also married in 1947. When asked the secret of a long-lasting marriage, one of them, Stanley, replies: ‘True love, trust and a lot of bleeding patience’.

To which his wife, Dolly, adds: ‘and for once I agree with him!’
