Neighbours spoilers: Will Gary Canning steal $100,000 to help pay Xanthe's uni fees?

Neighbours, Gary Canning

Unable to get a bank loan, will desperate dad Gary swipe from prison inmate Jeremy's bag of stolen cash to pay Xanthe's university fees?

With the deadline looming to pay his daughter Xanthe's university fees, Gary Canning is stressed-out as he still hasn't been able to raise the extra money he needs to send Xanthe off to study medicine.

After discovering a bank loan will take about two weeks to sort out, desperate Gary realises he may only be left with one option - to "borrow" the money from the bag of stolen cash he has been secretly hiding following his dodgy dealings with prison inmate Jeremy Sluggett earlier in the year. Will Gary swipe the $100,000 he needs for Xanthe's uni fees and hope criminal Jeremy never finds out?

Meanwhile, Karl and Susan Kennedy are in disagreement over his sister Jemima Davies-Smythe's offer to set them up financially for the rest of their lives.

Susan, who has only just made peace with Jemima after a very rocky start to the relationship, doesn't feel right about accepting the money. However, Karl is clearly quite taken by the idea of being able to afford to take early retirement and wants to consider the offer.

Elsewhere, legal eagle Toadie Rebecchi unexpectedly finds himself in a frisky mood at work, unaware neighbour Dipi Rebecchi's special aphrodisiac tea has found its way into the office cupboard! Can Toadie's wife Sonya help him out with his problem?

Neighbours continues weekdays at 1:45pm and 5:30pm on Channel 5

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
