Kirsty comes home from the hospital, still numb from the loss of her child. Miles tries to reach out to her, but she doesn't respond. Colleen comments that Kirsty needs her mother, meaning Irene, but it gets Miles thinking about Shelley. Miles, feeling he has to do something, invites Shelley back and Kirsty is glad to see her. Kirsty manages to unburden to her mother and admits to her mother she is worried about whether she and Miles have a future. Hugo isn't happy that Martha has decided to look after Bambang. He tries persuading her that she's not up to it, but she insists that she is. Eventually he agrees that it's fine to look after him for a few days. Then he finds out from Charlie that Martha has applied to foster Bambang for a couple of months and he is furious - he and Martha have a massive fight. Hugo calms down then persuades Martha that Bambang would be better off being looked after by an Indonesian family. Despite the strong bond Martha has formed with the boy, she agrees - she tearfully hands back Bambang. Hugo assures her she has done the right thing but Martha is not convinced. An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
