Kirsty is thrown into panic when she learns that husband Warren and their daughter, Nita, have been involved in a car crash. She and Adam race to the scene to find the car wrapped round a post in the middle of a field with Warren trapped inside, but Nita has fled from the wreckage and is nowhere to be found. Some quick thinking by Adam locates Nita and she's brought to the ED, but Warren becomes suspicious when the little girl reveals she's met Adam before. Later, he catches a lingering look between Adam and Kirsty and becomes determined to drive a wedge between them. Elsewhere, Ruth and Edward turn up at work hand in hand, determined to continue with their charade of a marriage. Fiona Allen guest stars as Fraser Beaumont, an inspector who knows Edward and Ruth's secret! Faced with the reality of the situation Ruth tells Edward she wants out - but he manages to talk her round.
