The outstanding Swedish-Danish drama returns for a fourth and final series

After the fist-pumping closing scene of The Bridge’s third series, viewers might be surprised at the pickle our heroine Saga (Sofia Helin) is in as we rejoin her tonight.

As the drama moves from BBC4 to BBC2 for its final, eight-part series, things kick off with yet another creatively horrible murder.

The head of the Danish Immigration Board has been found buried up to her neck and stoned to death under the Denmark-Sweden bridge, and Saga’s partner Henrik (Thure Lindhardt) has joined forces with the un-PC Jonas (The Killing’s Mikael Birkkjær) to investigate.

But why isn’t Saga there too?

A thrilling opener with one hell of a cliffhanger ending.
