Back from 1999's Pitch Black, intergalactic fugitive Vin Diesel has his work cut out trying to stop Colm Feore's warrior race.
This is a fantastic-looking sci-fi, featuring alien planets and cities dwarfing their inhabitants and two superb slavering beasts that look like scaly, armour-plated leopards.
Looks, though, aren’t everything, and the plot is a complete mess.
Diesel’s Riddick turns out to be one of the few surviving Furians, much feared by Feore’s Necromongers, heavy metal warriors who roam galaxies incinerating worlds at will.
On the run with Diesel, Alexa Davalos plays it tough, while Judi Dench and Thandie Newton add immense novelty value.
