The new students settle into halls

The new students settle into halls, but Doug and Darren have been allocated the same room. Doug's the victor and Jem's pleased to see the back of him. This year's going to be an interesting one, what with Kevin the alien, a mysterious Jamil and the betrothed couple; Lee and Leanne. Lee catches up with Darren and learns that Steph's got terminal cancer. Leanne comes across Steph at the Fresher's Fair and stuns her with her 'psychic' revelations. But when Steph asks her to use her powers to foresee Tom and Gilly's future, a guilty Leanne comes clean. Lee and Leanne entertain their new flatmates with a meal at halls, when a stressed out Leanne overhears the others bitching about her middle-aged ways. Desperately wanting to do the proper student thing, she leans in to kiss Doug. Also, Brendan and Carmel return from Barcelona and fill Ste in on their fabulous trip. He finds a moment to discreetly rummage through Carmel's things and is shocked to discover a bag of cocaine. Later, Carmel turns up to see Brendan dressed to the nines, but when she finds the courage to make a move and kiss him, he gives her the brush off.
