They have to step up to tackle the city's baddies, including financial trickster Steve Coogan, when the city's top cops Samuel L Jackson and Dwayne Johnson are put out of action.
Ferrell scores his biggest hit in ages, Wahlberg is a natural at comedy and Michael Keaton is the icing on the cake as the police captain.
This hilarious movie keeps delivering the big laughs and is steered well by director Adam McKay.
