Home and Away's Rosie to fall pregnant after rape
Home and Away actress Teri Haddy couldn't believe it when she heard that her character Rosie Pritchard would get pregnant after being raped.
The student finds out she is expecting a baby after the attack by fellow student Alexander Mullens (Louis McIntosh) in Home and Away.
"When I heard it, my heart nearly stopped beating. I just thought, 'Poor Rosie, will she be OK? She's got another journey to go on and it's going to be a tough one for her'," she told Australia's TV Week.
Rosie discovers she's pregnant, just as she is starting to get her life back on track after being sexually assaulted. She decides to take a test following a dizzy spell on her first shift at the diner.
Teri explained: "She does a pregnancy test at the Walkers' house and it is positive. Her reaction is just disbelief. You think when you are young that it won't happen and certainly not in such a horrible way."
The actress added that Rosie will face a tough decision about what to do about the pregnancy. She said: "She has to look at all the options and think about what is best for the future."
The scenes will be shown on Home and Away in the UK in coming months.
