It has been revealed that Weatherfield's Liz McDonald will be left fighting for her life after being deliberately hit by a car.
One of Coronation Street's huge Christmas storylines this year will reportedly see Beverley Callard's character become a victim of a hit and run - a crime that Johnny Connor is then arrested for.
Corrie fans will know that Liz and Johnny recently had a steamy fling following the tragic death of Johnny's son Aidan Connor. But is the Rovers landlord really responsible for trying to kill his former flame?
A Coronation Street source reportedly told The Sun that it's actually another Weatherfield resident who could be the true culprit...
"Liz's attempted murder is one of the big Christmas storylines.
"Johnny is the one who is initially arrested for it, but fingers are eventually pointed at Jenny. Jenny is still angry about Liz and Johnny's affair, which was exposed at Tracy Barlow's wedding.
"Scenes where Johnny is arrested were filmed last month, and the Weatherfield locals weren't happy."
And that's not where Johnny and Jenny's troubles end. They are also set to be hit financially when the locals boycott The Rovers following the incident, refusing to drink at the favourite pub while Johnny is still behind the bar.
And what about poor Liz? If she is left fighting for her life, does this mean we could be saying goodbye to one of our Weatherfield favourites?
New Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has revealed that while Christmas on the cobbles will be "Christmassy" there will also be plenty of drama... "This year we will have some heartbreaking storylines and within that there will be a big shock at the end."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
